The immensely popular resort of Newquay, on the north Cornwall coast, is especially favoured by surfers, and can indeed be considered the surfing capital of Cornwall – the UK even - because of the superb conditions for surfing provided by the north Atlantic coast, particularly as it breaks upon Fistral beach. Newquay has regularly played host to a number of surfing championships, including the world surfing championships, and the influence of surfing, and the tourists it attracts, can be seen throughout the town.
But it’s not all surfing at Newquay. The large sandy beaches, shops, restaurants, local fishing and many holiday attractions within driving distance (including a great aquarium on Newquay’s own sea front), continue to attract visitors year after year. It may not be the ideal location for a quiet ‘get away from it all’ escape, but for families, surfers, the young, and even the not so young, Newquay has a great deal to offer. There is a wide range of accommodation in the area, including a number of holiday parks as well as cottages, B&Bs, hotels and of course campsites. Whatever your budget, whatever your taste, you’ll find something to suit in the area – and Go2 makes finding it easy.
Newquay provides good transport facilities, with its own railway station, the terminus for the Atlantic Coast line which runs from Par, and provides access by rail directly from London and other major cities. There are also regular coach trips to Newquay and the town even has its own local airport providing access by air from other parts of the UK.
